Summer is almost upon us, and the holidays are being booked. You may be one of those who have yet to book a holiday while your friends and colleagues are going to Spain, Greece or Australia. Maybe you are one of those who like to stay close to home, or perhaps you do not want to spend money on a vacation due to the current economic climate.

Who can blame you if you have decided not to take a family vacation? Flight tickets are expensive during the summer months, hotels cost a lot of money, and there is also the small matter of eating out. For some, the best and most convenient way to spend the summer is to enjoy a stay-at-home-vacation, or ‘staycation’. It may sound a bit sad, but if you do the following things during your staycation, then it would be time well spent.

Playing Paintball or Laser Tag

Paintballing and laser tag are two fun things to do with your family. First taking off in a major way the 1980s, this game is still popular today, and you could find facilities quite close to your home. This is also a good exercise and will help you stay fit. Laser tag is another such game, and the facilities are available almost everywhere. This is a good way to spend time with your family and kids, and it could bring you closer and help you bond.

Visiting the Zoo or Aquarium

Visiting a nearby zoo or aquarium is also a good way to have fun and enrich your knowledge. Kids love animals and aquatic creatures, and you could fall in love with nature as well if you visit a zoo or an aquarium. Watching different living creatures all in the same place is a wonder in itself; a day spent at a zoo is very refreshing, and will give you and your family a lot to talk about over dinner. Such a trip is educational as well.

Family Movie and Game Time

Hollywood releases some of its biggest and best movies during the summer, and you and your family could watch one of them during this period. Alternatively, a number of online games also capture that summer feeling. Dolphin Gold, hosted by MobileWins Casino, for example, has 40 paylines across five reels and four rows, takes you on a sea hunt looking for magnificent creatures, while the 243-payline Jungle Spirit is about finding exotic animals in the forest. Of course, you could also play board games like Monopoly and Chess.

Go Golfing

Many golf clubs now offer relatively inexpensive packages for the public and non-professionals to play golf on their course for a day. Even if you have never played golf before, it would still be good fun to try your hands at it. It would also be amusing and entertaining for your kids to ride a golf buggy. Golf is a really good way to relax, and playing and walking under the warm sun is an healthy exercise. It could become a hobby of yours and could make for some interesting weekends.
