Ethical restaurant Rusty Pig is holding a special themed event during Tar Barrels in Ottery St Mary on November 5 to raise funds for the town’s Carnival Committee.

£5 from every booking will go directly to the committee to help ensure that the town’s annual carnival continues.

Rusty Pig Chef, Robin Rea explained: “I thought this would be a great way for people to have an even more entertaining experience of Tar Barrels, whilst at the same time raising a good sum for the carnival.

“Ticket holders will be able to dip in and out of the restaurant in Yonder Street throughout the evening and help themselves to food. I’ll be preparing some unusual tastes based around the theme of Guy Fawkes and Gunpowder.”

Robin has already devised several dishes including; Jumping Jack Jalapenos, Rocket of Roasted Pig, Roman Candle Chorizo and Gunpowder Tea.

As well as the ticketed event, Robin’s team will be selling his popular free range sausages to the public from a van in Hind Street in the centre of Ottery, and all profits from sales will also go to the Carnival Committee.

Tickets cost £25 to include all food, and there is a paying bar open until 1am. To book call 01404 815580.
