Santa’s helpers were out in force at the Axe Estuary Wetlands in Seaton last Sunday to track down a 'reindeer' and take part in Christmas crafts.

These included making fat ball Christmas gifts for wild birds and magic food to sprinkle in the garden and catch the eye of the team of reindeer pulling the sleigh.

The day was cold and crisp with sparkling sunshine and children and adults alike had great fun following the clues around the nature reserve to track down the missing reindeer – now happily all accounted for!

Tim Dafforn, East Devon District Council Countryside Team leader, commented: “This was a fantastic day where the magic of Christmas came to the Wetlands. All the families were inspired by making natural Christmas crafts – even the winter birds got a present!”

Axe Estuary Wetlands is owned and managed by the East Devon District Council's countryside team and are open to the public and free to visit at all times.

There is free parking through the entrance of Seaton cemetery. For more information call the countryside team on 01395 517557 or email countryside@eastdevon.gov.uk
