BSO Classical Extravaganza
Great Hall, Exeter University
Friday 22 July 7.30pm

Back by popular demand, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra presents another spectacular night of the best-known classical music with an amazing laser display and state-of-the-art lighting special effects at the Great Hall at Exeter University on Friday 22 July at 7.30pm.

The concert explodes into life with John Williams’ instantly recognisable Star Wars theme and the sultry strains of Bizet’s Carmen evoking images of sunny Spanish landscapes.

In contrast, the gothic intensity of Bach’s Toccata & Fugue and Wagner’s wild Ride of the Valkyries will have the hair on your neck stand up. Also featured is Ponchielli’s Dance of the Hours – remember the ballet dancing hippos and alligators in Disney’s Fantasia?

Then there is also the beautiful Largo from Dvořák’s New World Symphony, made famous by the iconic Hovis advert, as well as Elgar’s haunting and deeply moving Nimrod from his Enigma Variations and Saint-Saëns’ rousing Bacchanale.

All these pieces will be quite literally brought to light with an electrifying multi-coloured display of lasers, lights and special effects.

Conducting the BSO will be its Leverhulme Young Conductor in Association, Frank Zielhorst, who has become much-loved by audiences across the South-West over the two years he has been working with the Orchestra.

Join the BSO for a great sensory night out this summer and experience classical music like you have never heard it before! For more information go to www.bsoLIVE.com

Tickets cost £14-£38 and are on sale the Exeter Northcott Theatre on 01392 726363 or online at www.bsoLIVE.com
