Local social enterprise, Meridian Raw CIC, are pleased to announce a new participatory photography project for Exeter called The Future Focus Project,

This project has been funded by the Big Lottery's Awards for Programme and will help provide 3,14-week photography courses and an end of project exhibition, which will take place in October 2017.

For this project Meridian Raw CIC have partnered with The Bridge Collective CIC and Mind in Exeter & East Devon and the participants taking part in this project will explore the themes of positivity, empowerment and looking to the future.  These courses are open to anyone and are totally free, with the first 14-week course starting on Wednesday 16th November, 1:30pm - 4;30pm at St Sidwell's Community Centre in Exeter.

Clive Chilvers, founder and director of Meridian Raw CIC said:

“We’re delighted to be able to provide these free partipatory photography courses to the people of Exeter.  We know that this photography process can help foster social change and give a voice to those individuals who are not always heard, and help local people experiencing social isolation, by giving them an opportunity to take part in a creative project and meet other people in the community.”

"Within these workshops participants will be given the chance to learn and develop basic camera skills, take part in inspiring photo-dialogue exercises, go on a photography trips, and build a portfolio of images.  I'm realy looking forward to working with everyone over the coming year".

These courses will cover the technical side of photography, however, the main focus is about exploring the themes of positivity, empowerment and looking to the future and about developing a photo-story or theme to present that to a wider audience.  Participants will be supported every step of the way to create a series of images which can reflect aspects of their life, their local community or subjects that they are interested in.

At the end of the course there will also be an opportunity for participants to display their work to the public and a join all the participants in a celebratory end of project exhibition event.
