Peter Hawes is celebrating after completing this year’s London Marathon in support of local charity Rainbow Living.

Peter ran the gruelling 26 miles in a fantastic time of 3 hours and 50 minutes and has so far raised £1,020 for the Exeter-based charity.

Peter said: “When I got to 50 I said I’d apply to run the London Marathon, knowing for sure that no one ever got in first time…how wrong I was!  I’ve run many half marathons but never two back to back – but feel grateful to have had the opportunity to take part in such a special and unique event.  It was a privilege to run for Rainbow Living, a great charity doing great things for local adults with physical and learning disability.”

Rainbow Living is a small volunteer-run charity which supports adults with learning disability by providing specially adapted accommodation to enable tenants to live as independently as possible in supported living within the community.

The charity is reliant on donations and fundraising to support its accommodation projects and is enormously grateful to people like Peter who literally go the extra mile to raise funds.

Ruth Airdrie from Rainbow Living said: “We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Peter for running the London Marathon on our behalf, and to everyone who has so generously supported him.  Every single penny Peter has raised will go towards making a real and lasting difference to the lives of the young adults with disabilities whom we support through our accommodation projects.”
