A popular BBC TV presenter has said BBC Radio Devon’s loss could be Spotlight’s gain after the station dropped Judi Spiers.

Victoria Graham has returned after a two and a half year break to reprise her much-loved double act with Justin Leigh at the helm of local news show Spotlight.

She was interviewed by acting editor of the Western Morning News on Sunday Liz Parks, who asked her what she thought about the Spiers Saga.

She told Liz: “I do think people make a big issue of it, let’s just get on with it. Having said that, social media speaks for itself – she is very much loved. I think she’s going to be working on Spotlight, which will be nice. Maybe Radio Devon’s loss is Spotlight’s gain!”

Since the station stalwart left, a social media campaign called Bring Back Judi has attracted almost 1,000 followers.

But, other than a brief Facebook post, BBC bosses have kept a low profile.

A friend of Judi’s told the Daily she was “upbeat and positive” despite the disappointment of losing her job.

“I spoke to her yesterday and she told me she has been enjoying the lovely weather and is considering a number of options.

“In fact she will be hosting a high-profile event very soon.”
