This Girl Can in Devon team head to Westminster

Zoe Louise Clark, 27 and Emma Kessie 36 both from Exeter were chosen to be 2017 This Girl Can in Devon ambassadors. Their stories of how they are getting other local women active are now inspiring people from much further afield than just Exeter.

The national This Girl Can campaign has helped women feel empowered to take part in exercise and get healthy on their own terms and  Active Devon has launched a local campaign This Girl Can in Devon to run alongside. Women have been taking to social media using #DevonGirlsCan to tell their stories, share what they enjoy and encourage friends and family to get active with them.

Active Devon and a few of their Devon Ambassadors including Emma Kessie, are attending a This Girl Can Parliamentary Reception on Wednesday at Westminster to launch the new This Girl Can advert that will appear on your TV screens on Friday 24th February during Coronation Street.

Zoe joined an Active mums cycle ride and now leads them says ‘I didn't use to do any exercise and I was really down and depressed. I didn't feel like I was worth anything. Getting involved with local running groups and active mums cycling has been something just for me. Getting out with other mums, enjoying the fresh air and getting over my anxiety and get me fit.’

Emma has helped hundreds of women in Exeter to get fitter through informal running groups. ‘I want women to know that we all have our busy lives and work family commitments but you can still get out and exercise and do it for you” she said. “I love being able to get out from my busy day working full time juggling the 5 children but when I'm out exercising its me achieving my personal goals me being able to let go for half an hour.
