Thanks to overwhelming support from the local community 24-year old Mark Wakely, a plumber at Fords in Sidmouth, has made it through to the final five in the 2016 UK Plumber of the Year competition. Thank you Devon!

Mark was one of 15 plumbers shortlisted in the nationwide competition having been selected for his outstanding work on the restoration of The Landmark Trust’s property, Belmont House, in Lyme Regis.

Following the shortlist announcement members of the public were invited to vote on who they thought should reach the competition final. Mark was one of the five with the most votes so has earned his place at the final at the end of the month.

Mark’s next challenge is to deliver a presentation to a judging panel of three at the competition final on 31 August.

Mark comments: “I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me. I’m overwhelmed at the level of support and looking forward, albeit nervously, to the final.”

Tim Ford, Director at Fords, added: “We’re thrilled for Mark and proud of his achievement to be in the last five. He deserves to win this competition and we wish him all the best with the final challenging stage.”

Mark is the only finalist from Devon. The competition winner will be announced on 31 August.
