On Thursday 21 July the Ashfords Burgh Island Swim took place at Bigbury-on-Sea in South Devon from 6pm organised by national law firm, Ashfords LLP.

The event saw over 75 courageous participants swim for approximately 1 mile in open water around the iconic Devon beauty spot Burgh Island, raising as much money as possible for charity.

All money raised from the swim will go to the event's three selected charities: Parkinson's UK, Exeter City FC Football in the Community and Surf Life Saving GB.

The Ashfords Burgh Island Swim attracted keen swimmers from a number of businesses across the South West, including Devon & Somerset Fire Rescue, Midas, Cavanna Homes, Alder King, Vickery Holman, Savills, The Environment Agency and Devon County Council. The swimmers from Ashfords included Graham Cridland (Planning Partner), Carl Steele (Partner and Head of Trade Marks) and Tim Heal (Partner and Head of Commercial Property).

Cassie Patten, open water swimming Olympic medallist and Burgh Island Swim Ambassador, lead the pre-swim warm up and joined in with the swim.  Cassie commented: "I am passionate about the benefits of open water swimming and am delighted to be the ambassador for this event. It is a beautiful swim and I am sure that even more people will want to join in next year."

Graham Cridland, Partner at Ashfords LLP, commented: "Now in its second year, we are thrilled the Ashfords Burgh Island Swim received so many enthusiastic participants to take part in the challenge. We would like to thank Burts Crisps, St Austell Brewery and Chunk of Devon for donating produce that was supplied to the swimmers, and also a big thanks to Cassie Patten and Bantham Surf Life Saving Club for their support. Well done to everyone who took part."
