South West Athletics Academy has been working with the Exeter based Corkscrew programme which brings students from all over Europe to learn entrepreneurial skills.

Sonya Ellis Head Coach of the Academy said “we were delighted to be approached by Corkscrew Start Up School. They were looking for some unique businesses in the area to be used as real examples for their European students. We had an initial meeting with a small group of 4 students so that I could explain the business and we have just had their final presentation. It was great to have a viewpoint from someone outside looking in and we will certainly follow up on a number of their ideas – especially with respect to social media.”

Derv Heaney, Marketing and Communications Director at Corkscrew, said: “The Corkscrew participants performed an analysis on South West Athletics Academy as part of their Startup Internship here in Exeter, and from the outset they were amazed by Sonya's passion and enthusiasm for her work. The students had a great time working with Sonya and South West Athletics Academy. They could see the real value of the services the academy provides, and hopefully have provided her with some ideas on how to reach more people throughout Devon."

The Corkscrew Programme is based in Exeter at The Generator co working hub in the heart of Exeter.
