Leading South West firm of Chartered Accountants Thomas Westcott held a special celebration event to launch its merger with Parkhurst Hill in Plymouth.

The champagne reception saw senior partner of Parkhurst Hill, Paul Stapleton, welcome over 60 professional contacts including solicitors, banking executives and others to the firm's offices at Marsh Mills, Plymouth. Paul thanked them for their loyal support to Parkhurst Hill's clients throughout its very long and successful period of practicing.

Richard Thomas, chairman of Thomas Westcott, said: "Whilst we have had a presence in Plymouth for a number of years the group felt that a combination of this vibrant city's exciting future and the merger of our two firms means we can now deliver a substantial presence and range of service excellence which is long overdue."

Keith Clay, a partner at Plymouth, outlined the benefits of the merger for Plymouth and the surrounding area.

He said: "With a strong reputation for personal and caring service to its clients, the merger has brought to Parkhurst Hill the broad range of expertise that a regional practice was able to offer without affecting any personal client relationships.

"It is our firm belief that Plymouth is long overdue a new quality regional player in our profession and this development can only benefit the city and its wider business community."

He added: "The excitement within both firms was evident by the fact that many partners and managers from other offices throughout the Thomas Westcott group attended our celebration event to welcome their new partners from Parkhurst Hill and all their many valued contacts."
