Stagecoach South West has announced that the South West Falcon, its 24/7 coach service connecting Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol Airport and Bristol City Centre, has been shortlisted at the UK Coach Awards 2017 for ‘Making Coaches a Better Choice’.

The announcement comes just over a month after the service celebrated its first anniversary. It further reinforces that the Falcon is delivering an innovative product, quickly establishing itself as an integral part of the region’s transport infrastructure.

Two independent panels of highly experienced people in the industry undertook the judging. John Gilbert, UK Coach Awards Chairman, said: “Our awards recognise and reward excellence and good practice at all levels in the industry, amongst all operators, large or small, and in all types of work from express through contacting to coach touring. This year’s list of finalists encompasses all these.”

Bob Dennison, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, said: “Making the shortlist for the UK Coach Awards 2017 is testament to the hard work by individuals across the company to ensure the success of the Falcon.

“It’s fantastic to be recognised and shortlisted for such a high-profile industry award and we fully expect the Falcon to soar even higher in years to come.”

Launched on 14 February 2016 with eight coaches, the Falcon offers a reliable link between Devon, Somerset, Bristol Airport and Bristol City Centre. All coaches feature a distinctive livery and have free Wi-Fi, power charging, air conditioning and leather seats.

The timetable runs hourly from early morning until late evening, moving to two-hourly overnight.

The winners will be announced on Thursday 4 May at a ceremony hosted at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester.
